If Linux fails to come up to the desktop, what is the language used at the grub prompts? [ solved ]

Post by AZgl1800 »

While trying to get 19 xcfe to install under VB, the screen kept coming up out of sync.

the only alternative was to drop into the Grub prompts and figure out what is going on at that level.

but, what I know how to use in Terminal, for the most part, just does not work.

inxi is not available, my sleuth skills are zero with the Grub commands.

is there a tutorial for that situation?

( finally got the install done, by CTRL-ALT-F1 to get to terminal window and exited that switched back to the login screen by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F7 and the screen was sync'd up... clicked on install and it worked )

Not exactly a tutorial but the very extensive documentation of GRUB:

Code: Select all

info grub
