Installer crashes during system installation

Post by jdm77 »

Hey everybody, I almost started a new thread but I thought I'd try here first. I'm encountering a similar problem with LDME but with one difference, my installer doesn't hang, it simply disappears when I click "forward" after I pick my username, password, hostname, etc. There's no visible crash or error message, it just goes away and closes. I tried the deb for a new installer which was posted here but it does the same thing. Again, neither installer hangs so the ctrl+c trick won't work, both installers just die when I click "forward." I also thought it may have been a problem with "burning" the ISO to the USB stick so I've tried a couple difference USB sticks and burned them with Rufus, Tuxboot and I think another program, and I also tried using a DVD.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here is the terminal output from the standard installer included in the LDME ISO.

According to various bug trackers, it's a bug in libparted. The installer can't do anything about it.

https://bugs.debian.org/819488
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1543704

That library, libparted, can't handle the partitioning scheme with less than two unallocated sectors between logical partitions.

Indeed, your sda6 and sda7, which are both logical partitions, have only one sector between them (440289279 - 440289280).

Well... I would suggest using GParted to resize one of them... but the problem is that GParted also uses libparted, so it would probably crash at the same place as well. :) So maybe try other similar partitioning tool...
