I am trouble shooting my boot issue discribed here.
I noticed that when booting in recovery mode I can only login with root. none of my other users work. Is that a normal behavior of recovery or is it the login that is somewhat damaged ?

Re: login recovery mode
Guid00B, why have you started 3 threads on the same problem? I read this one, and it linked to a description in another thread. And that one had a link to yet another. You are more likely to get helpful solutions if all the information is in one place, instead of scattered all over 3 threads.

Re: login recovery mode
Here I am asking if when booting in recovery (wich I never had to use before) it is normal not to be able to log in with regular users and admin users, but only in root. I linked the origin of my problem just for context. I don't expect help to solve the other matters here.
Regarding the other post :
1rst post : trying to set up a nfs share.
2nd post : trying to undo some bad move
3rd this post about behavior of recovery mode.
To my POV, even if related in the chain of event, these are three different

Re: login recovery mode
The Recovery mode > "Root Shell" will not allow you to switch users.
If you want to log in as an administrative user, don't use the Advanced or Recovery mode. Instead, select the normal menu entry and press e (for Edit).
Go down to the line that starts with "linux" and erase "quiet splash" (if it is there) at the end of that line. Replace "quiet splash" with "rw systemd.unit=multi-user.target"
Press F10 to boot.
NOTE: This works for Linux Mint 18.1 - if you are using LMDE2 currently, I have no way to test to see if it works the same there. Try it and let me know.

Re: login recovery mode
I understand that recovery mode means root login. So normal behavior. Thanks.
