I've got an old imac (2014 Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4260U CPU @ 1.40GHZ) that I converted to be a mint machine when the Apple OS got to be too topheavy for my liking. I want to pass this machine on to my parents, who don't want to learn another OS, and want this machine to be a mac again. I've created an Apple High sierra bootable USB, but I don't know how to force this computer to boot from the USB drive so that I may reinstall the Apple OS. I think that this should be a matter of accessing the bootloader, yet the GRUB customizer doesn't seemingly give me an option that I can use to boot from USB.
I've tried any number of pc-like and Apple-like tricks (F2, F10, ESC, command key) to force a USB boot, and I fear that I may have a mint machine that I can't
And, yes, my fellow Linux evangelists, I've tried to get my parents to try a new OS that is free, easy to use, and nearly bulletproof. I haven't been able to persuade them to do it.

Re: Force mint to boot from usb
I wouldn't try to make them. You need to consult the manual FOR THE COMPUTER, not the OS, and change the boot options in the BIOS. Personally I wouldn't have a clue how to do that on a Mac. GRUB will be no help at all.

Not sure if this will help, but if changing the boot options in the BIOS doesn't work, try Plop:
