[Solved] How safe is it to upgrade D-Bus?

Post by c30zD »

I'm asking this question because long ago, when the Update Manager used a different level system, D-Bus was included together with the kernel updates, if I remember correctly. However, now it is a level 3 update, unlike the kernel which is level 4. Therefore, I'd like to know if it is really a good idea to update this package or not and what kind of tests should I run to make sure everything works fine.

I've never encountered a problem with dbus even though it is quite complicated - several instances of it are processing constantly as you can see with pgrep -a dbus

There's no need to test it since it invokes your desktop session so if your session starts that would indicate that everything is A-OK.

Thank you, WharfRat. I updated D-Bus without problems.
