Hi GeneC,
Installed Xfce 4.12 from Mepis this morning. Running without issue on Debian (tracking testing) and on LMDE 2. Just a few things to add.
There is a second repository here: deb http://nl.mxrepo.com/mx/repo/ mx15 main
The instructions to add the public key can be found here about half way down the page.

To install Mepis public key =
Download link ("save link as")
http://teharris.net/mx14repo.asc
Run (from folder file was downloaded to- I use 'home')..
Code: Select all
su -c "apt-key add mx14repo.asc"
Checking main.mepis-deb.org_mx_repo_dists_mx15_InRelease
Good GPG signature found.

Thanks GeneC, your instructions worked just perfect!
Re: LMDE2 - Betsy - with XFCE (My Setup) [DU to XFCE 4.12]
Glad it worked for you...
===========
Just a note for reference.
Seems most of the XFCE 4.12 package upgrades just hit Debian SID this morning. They will also come to anyone tracking Debian Testing in about two weeks or so, BUT not come to LMDE2 tracking the default repos (Jessie, which is Debian Stable which is not rolling)..

Hello geneC!
That is an awesome Desktop enviroment!
I want that too!
I am running LinuxMint 17.2 Cinnamon right now, am I able to follow your instructions to install this enviroment with icons and the "appleOSX"-like toolbar thing on bottom??
EDIT: I did everything as you descriped. works fine, but how do I activate the xfce desktop enviroment??? Everything else works though
EDIT2: I figured it out. however now I need to figure out how to set the icons on xfce4 and change the theme and so on. pretty cool that you can use different enviorments in one linux distribution
