Help needed to install VPNoneclick

Post by wnicholas »

Hi guys

I have searched high and low for a solution without joy. I am hoping you can help. I am trying to install VPNoneclick on LMDE2. I receive an "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: chromium-browser" messege. Chromium browser is installed with all depedencies. Am i missing something? My system has the latest updates installed. I have attached screenshots of the error messege and lithian output. I am using x64 version of LMDE and i downloaded the x64 Debian version of VPNoneclick. I have no problems installing this app on Ubuntu. Thanks in advance.

The difference is on Linux Mint 17.x/Ubuntu Chromium is installed from the package called "chromium-browser" (http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/chromium-browser). On LMDE 2/Debian it is installed from the package called "chromium" (https://packages.debian.org/jessie/chromium). Thus indeed the dependency isn't being met.

If indeed you used the Debian package you should report that issue to VPNoneclick.

Hi xenopeek

Thanks a million for your advice. I manually downloaded a "chromium-browser" Debian package which i installed from https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/all/ ... r/download This package installed perfectly. I was then able to install VPNoneclick with no issues what so ever. I don't know if this is an advisable work around but it surely did the job. :D :D :D

It's a workaround. VPNoneclick still needs to fix their package though. Debian 8 (Jessie / Stable) was released a year ago and VPNoneclick's Debian package apparently was built for Debian 7 (Wheezy / Oldstable) or even older.

That's true. Interestingly enough their Windows and Ubuntu installers run flawlessly on the latest desktops i.e Windows 10 and Xenial Xerus
