Backports

Post by chazdg24 »

I followed the Tutorial on how to add the Jessie-Backports. Two issues have occurred which I'm not sure what to do about.

1. When adding deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian jessie-backports main to my sources.list, I get the following message:

Reading package lists... Done
W: http://mirrors.advancedhosters.com/linu ... elease.gpg: Signature by key E1A38B8F144675D060EA666F3EE67F3D0FF405B2 uses weak digest algorithm (SHA1)
W: http://extra.linuxmint.com/dists/betsy/Release.gpg: Signature by key E1A38B8F144675D060EA666F3EE67F3D0FF405B2 uses weak digest algorithm (SHA1)

2. When adding gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian-testing.list I get the following error in Terminal:

(gedit:4968): GConf-WARNING **: Client failed to connect to the D-BUS daemon:
Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Sorry if this message is not formatted correctly, but I'm just learning Debian and seem a bit lost. I did manage to update Libreoffice so I must have done something right?

Thank you.

G'day chazdg24! I've got a suspicion of the problem but I need a bit more info. Can you run the following in a terminal and post the results back here?

Code: Select all

inxi -r
apt policy libreoffice
Thanks!

I decided to go back to Mint 18, but thank you for replying.
