[SOLVED - KIND OF] Installing btsync

Post by triplemaya »

Could someone please walk me through installing and running btsync with a gui on lmde 2.

I have installed in on my old box some time ago. Everything is fine.

On the second computer I have gone through the installation process, and set up the username and password for 127.0.0.1:8888/gui

But then it brings up the browser with 127.0.0.1:9999/gui. And this does not accept this username and password. And I cannot log in on 127.0.0.1:8888/gui either.

I have gone round and round in circles, stopping btsync, deleting the files in .config, uninstalling, and reinstalling. I have installed the gtk version, and uninstalled it. I have tried every combination I can think of!!

Re: Installing btsync

update

I got btsync working. Somehow. I tried so many things i cannot remember what worked.

So I went back to the working computer and added a directory.

I got a dialog where I received a URL for authentication.

I went back to the new install computer and put in the URL

This brought up a message asking me to update to 2.0

I followed the instructions here:

https://www.resilio.com/platforms/desktop/

Then I went back to the page where it says:

Once Sync is installed, click below to get the folder.

This gives me the error message:

The address wasn't understood

Pale Moon doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (btsync) isn't associated with any program.

WHAT THE ****? I have just followed all the instructions, which installs resilio sync, so it is hardly surprising that btsync is not recognized, but the resilio interface does not understand?
