[Solved] Shortcut keys woes ...

Post by DanielR »

I'm running LMDE2 64-bit Mate and keep trying in vain to set the "Windows-Key" + E to open Caja. The same combination works perfectly well on Mint 13 and Mint 17.3 (on the same computer/laptop). Whenever I press the "Windows-Key" the panels main menu pops up. I have already disabled "show the panel's main menu" in the keyboard short-cut program and set up a custom command to open caja and assigned the desired short-cut to it.

Is there any way to disable the main menu popping up whenever I press the "Windows-Key"?

Any help appreciated.

Well, the culprit was in the main menu preferences, where there was a separate short-cut key definition for opening the menu and that short-cut was set to "Super-Key" aka the "Windows-Key". After changing this short-cut to some other key combination, the "Super Key" was "free" again to be used for other short-cut key combinations. Funny though, this pre-set short-cut was not present in Mint 13 Mate nor in Mint 17.3 Mate (well at least I can't recollect having to modify the short-cut in the mint menu preferences to properly configure my desired short-cuts).
