(Solved) LMDE2 Gnome Keyring not responding during shut down

Postby Crewp » Sun Jul 09, 2017 8:11 pm

Hi, ever since upgrading LMDE2 Cinnamon to 3.4 when I try to shut down my system an error message pops up saying Gnome keyring not responding. Anyone else getting this? I can force a shutdown, but would like to have a more permanent fix.

I have been looking into this, and it seems it has been a problem for some time with no real solution, accept to disable the keyring, which just causes more problems, I will keep looking, and hopefully someone with more experience will chime in.

It only started on my machine with this last batch of updates.

Yes, me too. But I noticed once I started googling this problem, others have had the same thing happen after a update or upgrade of some kind, I even found an old thread here on the Mint forums for the Ubuntu based Mint that was never resolved. Also found some of these same problems on the Arch forum, and the SolydXK forum. It seems so far, there are no good answers to this. But I am stubborn and will keep looking, so check back, or maybe you will find something, and let me know. :D

Oddly enough, mine has now stopped doing it. Nothing has changed on my system that I'm aware of.

Ok, that's good I uninstalled, and reinstalled with Synaptic and mine is working good again also. I will mark this solved.

Just a quick update if anyone is following this thread. The Gnome-keyring has started acting up again on shutdown, so I have removed it from my system. So far no adverse effects. If I find a better solution, or someone else does, please post it. Regards. :)

Just a password manager from what I see. Sounds more like a PITA daemon

I searched and asked around, I got no good answers. I went to Synaptic typed in gnome-keyring and marked it for complete removal, I have not had that shut down problem, or any others for that matter. So that's it until I find a more permanent solution.
