Hi, I'm running LMDE/Cinnamon and had a system hiccup last night. On restarting and logging in as usual, I was given a completely new profile - new desktop and everything.
All my files and settings no longer exist!
From a look at disk usage, it appears all files are still present - somewhere - however a find on the disk locates nothing.
How can I restore my profile?

Your files should still be in /home/username
You should be able to log out of your current session and then log in to your original user account.

/home/username is an empty/new profile.
I've even tried to log in as root, but /home/username shows as just a new directory - just like a system that has been freshly installed.

I made a mistake. I looked at disk monitor and the entire /home is gone. " / " appears untouched, but " /home " is gone - empty.
