Not really a question, just a remark that something may be wrong with the installer: I had to reinstall lmde last weekend. After booting into the new install, both thunderbird and firefox refused to open because the profile was inaccessible. I poked around for quite a while, deleted the .mozilla directory in my home, all to no avail. In the end, what I found out was: the installer creates a .cache directory in the user's home folder that is owned by root:
Code: Select all
ls -al /home/user
total 108K
-rw-r--r-- 1 user 220 Dec 14 15:20 .bash_logout
-rw-r--r-- 1 user 2.6K Dec 14 15:20 .bashrc
drwx------ 3 root 4.0K Dec 14 15:29 .cache
This is on a fresh install, so no user action. After chowning the .cache directory, thunderbird and firefox start normally. Just in case somebody else hits the same roadblock...
