Remastering LMDE (Solved)

Post by chiefjim »

Working once again with an older 32-bit laptop. LMDE runs fine on it. Would like to remaster the install if possible. Both remastersys and pinguy builder rely on casper which is unavailable. Any suggestions?

Keeping thread alive. Anyone with LMDE using a remastering application? I see where antiX has one called snapshot but so far haven't found any that work with 32-bit LMDE.

you could just use rync / luckybackup / DiskDump / Gparted - - to clone the current HDD to a backup,
or to a identically cloned HDD or similar.

there is also similar programs to that snapshot from MX that you can consider, as well.
- not sure of what they are called, though.. .

fsmithred over at refracta linux would be the best person to ask as antiX snapshot is based on his remastering tool for Debian and Devuan.

https://www.ibiblio.org/refracta/
Refracta also includes special tools - refractainstaller, refractasnapshot and refracta2usb - that allow you to customize your installation and create a live-CD or live-USB of your running system. These tools will work on most Debian or Devuan-based systems.

Best to say '...was based on an early version of refracta remastering.' The present tool in antiX/MX is very different from that in refracta.

Anyhow, iso-snapshot/mx-snapshot will not work with lmde, but the refracta tools almost certainly will.
