I installed LMDE-2 dual-boot on a Kangaroo PC and it seems to work OK. The PC uses HDMI as output for screen and sound. Windows 10, which comes with it, sends sound to the TV OK, but LMDE doesn't. The only sound output device is "Dummy Output".
Also, the battery indicator always indicates a full charge. I've run the battery down until the PC turns off without the battery indicator changing.
I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to get sound and the battery indicator working.
Thanks.

Re: Kangaroo PC Sound and Battery Indicator
I don't have a Kangaroo myself, but I recall noticing articles about this in the recent past e.g.

Thanks for the link. I'm probably not ready to be installing a patched kernel, especially since it's 4.5 and I seem to be at 3.16.darethehair wrote:I don't have a Kangaroo myself, but I recall noticing articles about this in the recent past e.g.

In that case, I wonder if newer Jessie 'backport' kernels might have what you need? Right now I am using that repo on my desktop, and my kernel version is '4.5.0-0.bpo.1-amd64'. It is *very* easy to install Jessie backportsjrcarter wrote:Thanks for the link. Re: Kangaroo PC Sound and Battery Indicator
After doing the upgrade from the iso to the latest, LMDE became unusable on this machine. The background of the login screen was black, there was no panel, and Firefox (in my startup applications) wouldn't run. As a result, I've installed LM 17.3, which is OK so far, though sound doesn't work and it's unaware there's a battery. Anyway, this is no longer a topic for this forum. Thanks for your advice.
