Power button and Battery compatibility

Post by holodecker »

Hi there,

After installation on an older Asus laptop, I have come across 2 issues that have occurred as a result. I'm guessing they both connect, but I don't know how.

The first is that Mint doesn't recognise that there is a battery attached and offers no option in the settings. I have removed the power cable while the laptop is on and it doesn't change at all, (still saying AC power is attached).

Subsequently, the power button won't even operate if the power cable isn't plugged in while the laptop is off. Pressing it, holding it down, no response. I plug the power cable in and it boots as normal.

Would love to hear some solutions,

cheers,

holodecker. <---noob.

Reason: For larger blocks of code, the [code] tags are better than the [c] tags. They make for a neater result that's easier to read.

No worries, the version you have installed LMDE 2 Betsy is debian based mainly for advanced users.
Install the latest release of Linux Mint 18.3 might solve the issue, make a backup of important data first.
