Please, has anyone installed the above driver for a usb wifi adapter.
Nothing seems to work for me. The cd with the adapter seems useless.
Two days I have been trying to get the driver installed on my LMDE but go luck.
I am not a computer wizard and can just about put in command lines. I like the LMDE system which I have used for some time.

Let's start by giving us some information. Plug in the USB wifi adapter, then please copy and paste the result of this command from Terminal:

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
Pasting the results in between

tags is helpful for reading it easily.

Yes...well, rtl8192cu (which might be the same thing)... it worked but was often troublesome, especially with new kernels, and needed a custom driver install.

I ended up buy a different adapter (Panda Wireless PAU06, about $14) which works with all the new/new-ish kernels and might glitch once in 100 boot-ups (just restart NetworkManager.service). That $14 saved me way more than $14 worth of my time.
Nothing seems to work for me. The cd with the adapter seems useless.
They usually are. I'm not even sure why they supply them....

Check here for installing the rlt8192eu linux driver:

Your data and OS are backed up....right?

Thanks very much. I have decided to abandon the rtl8192. I will go for an adapter which is proven to work on Debian

Best wishes

Thanks Jerry. I have decided that these adapters which don't work first time are best for the garbage bin. I have wasted too much time solving adapter installation.

Best wishes
