Hello,

why is "https://extra.linuxmint.com" in the repository not available/not connectable/not set... just such http? (Or the other Updateservers out there, which support https but are set as normal http in the list?)

Ok, the download is validated by gpg-checksums... but first manipulate the downloaded gnupg-file while downloading, then manipulate the next downloads on the line is possible, am I right?

Thanks,

[ironic]I don't know how to install Linux Mint Debian Edition since years of using it. Now I am able to do this with pictures! A very accurate answer![ironic]

For the simple answer it might be enough to tell me, why all updateservers in Linux Mint are contacted via normal http... and not (if possible) via https.

There is no private data which will need encryption like a Bank site. And when you download the iso image , you can always check for accurate download comparing the checksum of the image.

Ok,

thanks for your answer...
I mean more the "integrity of data" state than privacy. And I mean the update-servers, not the iso-file-hoster.

Now I think it is well-conceived so that no manipulating of updatefiles is possible in the normal http-way even if the gnupg-key-file might be updated in the same way sometimes.
