LMDE 2 RC: full of bugs

Post by nobodynoze » Mon Mar 30, 2015 1:42 pm

I won't be using 2 (betsy). They should have called it, Bugsy for the amount of bugs it'll have.

I have to boot up Ubuntu or my Debian OS since I can't use skype in LMDE - just now. I click to use it but nothing happens. I'm tired of the lack of support you guys give LMDE - why not just get rid of it so you can concentrate on the Mint Main Edition already?!? :( :x

Reason: Added "LMDE 2 RC" to the title to make it more descriptive

I love it when people predict the future because they're almost always wrong.

why not just get rid of it so you can concentrate on the Mint Main Edition

What's stopping you from doing exactly that?
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!

works here, must be a PICNIC error.

Try opening a terminal instead of "clicking" it and issue

Code: Select all

skype
What's the output?

Go fish.

I have been using LM17.1, LMDE-1 and LMDE-2-RC. I found a very few niggling bugs in LMDE-1 but I haven't found any in the RC, I think it is great and am looking forward to the Stable release. I am also running LM17.1 and have found bugs in it. All in all, I prefer LMDE by far.

I have no idea what happened. I guess I could have googled the problem (not sure, what the search field would consist of, though) - skype frozen? I rebooted and then when I tried skype again, it worked normally.

But, I've never encountered it before and I use skype regularly - whether it's Ubuntu or Debian. I guess I was just frustrated but I couldn't access the skype window - there was a chat window open. Nothing would happen.

Edit: I have updated what I could - whatever the initial default repo is - it's up to date as far as LMDE goes. I haven't changed the repo yet for a LMDE 2/Betsy update.

Isn't it pretty ridiculous to complains about bugs (full of bugs to be precise) when your problem is related to a proprietary software and disappear after reboot?

Thanks Habitual !
It works without any problem for me.

Another solution I tried on my LMDE 2 RC is Pidgin + plugin Skype.
It works also.

So why complaining with "LMDE 2 RC: full of bugs" ?

It has worked wonderfully for what I do on my computer. If it upsets you enough to post a "bugsy" retort to the hard work put in by the LMDE development team, why not give a seriously detailed account of your experience of "bugsiness". This is the sort of negative post which is totally antithetical to constructive reaction by the developers. Stick with Ubuntu downstreams and try not to insult folks doing parallel things. Cheers, and have more beers.
