Hi,

well, I would like to know if LMDE or Linux Mint is suitable for business desktop pc ?
LMDE being based on Debian, I guess it's a good choice for business desktop pc ?

I would like to know your opinion on the matter. Many people say that Ubuntu is a better choice for business desktop pc and O.S servers.

Depends on what sort of business you are in, and the software you need to use.

I would prefer Mint over LMDE - simply because there is more support available for it.
and it tends to remain stable after upgrades. just my opinion , others may disagree.

I use both LMDE and the Ubuntu based version. LMDE is MUCH more stable in my experience. LMDE is based on Debian stable (in the case of the current version that is Jessie, still waiting on a Stretch base version). I don't think the all caps for the word "much" emphasizes my own experience enough. The only unacceptable thing that ever happened from updates in LMDE 2 for me was actually a Mint (Cinnamon) update, not from the Debian repo and it was fixed rather quickly. I have frequently had to fix things from the Ubuntu base. Currently I am still working to isolate an issue with Cnnamon in 18.2 and that started a few weeks ago.

I agree with the first response. If your business needs don't include Apps that aren't available in Linux, LMDE will work fine but straight Debian would be a little more stable since their stringent procedures to add things to the stable repos means things get tested more than Mint before reaching the user. I would also add that each machine could be different so if you have multiple computers in that work environment you might find an odd machine that doesn't work with a Distro that works on all the others.

If you need Microsoft Office compatibility, Linux is not a good choice. If all your documentation is internal or printed (i.e. nobody needs to be able to open it in MS Office) then Linux may be a good choice.

Completely disagree. It's the total opposite. LMDE being based on Debian stable has an outstanding support and is rocking stable.

I like the minimalist distributions, live-session makes it easy to try them, but If I had to install a set of machines, right now, for a project, I would use an Ubuntu base and a KDE front-end.

I use LMDE in my office, the Default LibreOffice is 100% compatable with microsoft office if you save microsoft office created forms and doc's in the correct format.
