LMDE2 old version of Cinnamon?

Post by Lucap » Mon Dec 18, 2017 4:47 am

LMDE2 has Cinnamon 3.24 and not 3.26 , I though LMDE always had the latest revision first before Mint?

Where did you get those strange version numbers? Cinnamon version on LMDE2 is 3.4.x: http://packages.linuxmint.com/search.ph ... d=cinnamon

IIRC there is some package that Cinnamon requires that is too old a version on Debian 8. LMDE3 (based on Debian 9) should get the newer Cinnamon version.

You are making a confusion. These numbers remind me of Gnome... ;)
Desktop: HP Pavilion a6435 (Athlon64 2x 2,6Ghz, Radeon R7-240, Ram 4 Go, HD 500 Go) / MX Linux 17
Laptop: Packard-Bell EasyNote G1320 (Celeron 1,3 Ghz, ATI Mobility Radeon 9100 IGP, Ram 1,2 Go, HD 40 Go) / Debian Stretch

I'm an Idiot as i had been looking at 3.4.2 and 3.4.6 previously and somehow come up with a dyslexic selection , i meant 3.4 and 3.6. :P

Thanks for the info on LMDE3 , now that i've been using Debian SID Cinnamon for a few weeks and have got used to setting it up i'm really enjoying LMDE2 that i'm now going to use it as my daily driver and changed all my computers over to it.

The only thing i need to master is Apt-Pinning then i can finally leave things alone until LMDE3 is released.
