LMDE2 to LMDE3
Does the rolling updates feature of LMDE2 mean that it will eventually update everything to LMDE3, or will LMDE2 remain separately updated from 3?

Re: LMDE2 to LMDE3
No. LMDE 3 has its own repositories (both a different one from Debian and from Linux Mint). Possibly the mintupgrade tool will be made available for upgrading LMDE 2 to 3 in place.
To anybody confused by OP's "the rolling updates feature of LMDE2" statement, only for the software developed by Linux Mint are new feature releases made available as updates on LMDE. All other software, with few notable exceptions like Firefox, only receive security updates and no new feature releases. Not until moving to a new package base as LMDE 3 will do.

Shucks, I was hoping LMDE3 would be more "Debian like" than LMDE2.
Best of luck!

Re: LMDE2 to LMDE3
How is using Debian stable repository + Linux Mint repository not Debian like? This is exactly as Debian derivatives guidelines say it should be done: https://wiki.debian.org/Derivatives/Gui ... positories
Re: LMDE2 to LMDE3
I guess I misunderstood. It sounded like you were saying that you were maintaining your own Debian repos.
best of luck. I an anxious to see how it all goes together
