LMDE Cindy startup acpi trouble

Post by jerson »

greetings

I have been restoring a Compaq 510 laptop recently and installed LMDE Cindy on it. the machine gives acpi errors at boot time. I disabled acpi via the grub boot time options and the messages go away; however, with acpi=off, Cinnamon comes up in software rendering mode

The delay between the LM logo showing and the desktop showing is quite large and the display remains black for that time.

the machine specs are

You or a moderator should move this to the LMDE section. Other support sections here are for Ubuntu based Mint. You'll get a lot of answers that may pertain to Ubuntu based Mint but not LMDE.

...check here & here.

Edit: ...as i didn't clarified such earlier - i wouldn't kill off ACPI entirely myself just because of some warnings.
Probably better to use acpi_enforce_resources=lax instead & see how that goes.

Thanks you very much for the help. I realized it may not be the right version for me, I'm reverting to 18.3 Sylvia 64b with Cinnamon. I realized, many things have changed compared to the 18.3 I'm familiar with.
