SSL error in multimc (solved)

Post by SlackerNet »

Good Day folks

I just installed lmde3 and also did a fresh install of multimc. I keep getting an authentication error. I asked on the multimc discord and they say it's a system issue not a multimc issue

the error is

Authentication operation failed due to a network error: Unable to init SSL Context: (99)

gogle wasn't much help on this. Any advice on what to try ?

You can try looking through the issues in MultiMC's GitHub project for more information, where I found four similar instances, perhaps more.

https://github.com/MultiMC/MultiMC5/issues/1784

https://github.com/MultiMC/MultiMC5/issues/1942

https://github.com/MultiMC/MultiMC5/issues/1979

Thanks for he reply

I think building multicmc from source seems to be the best way to go. The multimc guys were saying only ssl ver 1.0.
i went to uninstall opennsll and it will remove a ton of stuff wich i do not think is smart to do

compiling multimc for the ssl ver 1.1 seems the best choice right now

thanks again for the tips i was only getting issues from 2015 when i did the search

I way over thought this and the multimc guys were correct

you can have openssl 1.0 and 1.1 installed

using synaptic package manager and simply adding

libssl1.0-dev
Secure Sockets Layer toolkit - development files

fixed the issue
