(solved) Febsmart Wifi 6 PCIE (ax200) with NGW (AX3000/Bluetooth)

Post by Rocherd »

At this point im throwing in the towel for the time being. The bigger guns need to come out and play otherwise theres nothing more I can do.
I would like to thank sleeper12 for there hardwork in trying to help a noob. The situation has basically turned into guessing game at this point for LMDE4.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Okay some simple stuff, yes it has a linux "driver" (iwlwifi-cc-a0-46.ucode), however its readme and intels wiki page both about as readable as handing a child a paper involving desecrate mathematics (ie all the keyparts make no sense). After form jumping and not finding answers A. I could understand (the answer given assumed that the person understood the whole process or finding that information is easy/its not its really not.) or B. There was no follow up from OP more information (dead page). C. Instructions assumed user knows what there reading.
Bluetooth does work however I am connecting via ethernet (motherboard) to wireless bridge (linksys) as my workaround until i get the wireless card working.
Why this is posted in beginners when I tell you I dont know how. I mean "I do not know how."
so hear is your info dump ahead of time:
Check:
Code: Select all
 mokutil --sb-state
If it shows secure boot is on, turn it off in Bios.
Is there a wifi driver in Driver Manager you can install?
Directly from the README
I dont see a device manger program on here do you have a recommendation for LMDE4
2. INSTALLATION
The iwlwifi driver will look for the file iwlwifi-cc-a0-46.ucode using the
kernel's firmware_class infrastructure.
More information can be found under Documentation/firmware_class in kernel
source. In order to function correctly, you need to have this support enabled
in your kernel. When you configure the kernel, you can find this option in
the following location:
Device Drivers ->
Generic Driver Options ->
Userspace firmware loading support
You can determine if your kernel currently has firmware loader support
by looking for the CONFIG_FW_LOADER definition on your kernel's
.config.
In addition to having the firmware_class support in your kernel, you
must also have a working udev and uevent infrastructure configured.
The steps for installing and configuring udev are very
distribution specific.
Once you have the firmware loader in place (or if you aren't sure and
you just want to try things to see if it works), you need to install
the microcode file into the appropriate location.
Where that appropriate location is depends (again) on your system
distribution. You can typically find this location by looking in the
udev scripts of your distro, the default is /lib/firmware.
Installation of the firmware is simply:
% cp iwlwifi-cc-a0-46.ucode /lib/firmware
You can now load the driver (see the INSTALL and README.iwlwifi provided with
the iwlwifi package for information on building and using that driver.)
It might be that you need a newer kernel than the 4.19 of LMDE. Have you tried Mint 20.1 on that newer machine? You could try a live session just to see if wifi works there on the 5.4 kernel.
no i chose ldme4 because i really got tired of canonical, so direct builds of ubuntu really arent my thing. it says in the user manual 4.1+ kernel.
so is there another way?
You don't seem to have a driver, so try:
Code: Select all
 sudo apt-get install backport-iwlwifi-dkms
Reboot
I thought maybe you need to disable fast boot in Bios, but not sure if that's the case here.
If LMDE has it, it should be in the Menu.
