Out of Memeory issue in Systemd

Post by cretsiah »

So does anyone know how this might affect LMDE ?

Brodie Robertson on you tube has mentioned that there is a serious issue with OOM ( Out of Memory ) in systemd systems

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XotltmuFUyU

Fedora has known about this issue for a year however Ubuntu appears to have had serious issues in relation to it and i dont know if it affects Debian the same way

This is about systemd-oomd, the userspace out-of-memory killer. It's reportedly a bit trigger happy in how Ubuntu 22.04 developers have implemented it.

LMDE 5 doesn't install it by default that I know. (Nor will Linux Mint 21.) You can check with apt version systemd-oomd which will probably answer blank, meaning it is not installed.

If it is installed you can do systemctl status systemd-oomd to check if it's enabled and running.
