LMDE 4 stuck at installing drivers

Post by ruralgaming »

Hello everyone!
As the title suggests, I'm trying to install LMDE 4 on my laptop from a USB. I used the "install with NVidia Drivers" option when the menu came up, then I double clicked to install Linux Mint. Everything has been going fine on the LMDE4 Debbie Installer until it got to Installing drivers. It's been stuck there for over 30 minutes! What should I do?

Reason: Moved thread from "Main Edition" (Ubuntu based) to "LMDE" (Debian based, which LMDE 4 is)

Installed and working perfectly on LMDC ... (normal instalation + ...)

viewtopic.php?f=68&t=276810&sid=790d661 ... d2524721bf

NVIDIA graphics card drivers install them according to ... putting sudo in front of each instruction ...

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nvidia-detect
sudo nvidia-detect

He recommended that I install the "nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver" driver.(for my computer)

sudo apt-get remove --purge nvidia* xserver-xorg-video-nouveau
sudo apt-get autoremove
sudo apt-get install aptitude
sudo aptitude update
sudo aptitude -r install linux-headers-$(uname -r|sed 's,[^-]*-[^-]*-,,')

sudo update-initramfs -u
sudo aptitude -r install nvidia-legacy-340xx-driver nvidia-xconfig
sudo nvidia-xconfig

We restart and that's it ...

(Optional) If we have a laptop with an external monitor ... and we want it to be the main one, we select the external monitor
In the Screen application, I only activate this monitor ...
We have to open the Nvidia configuration (Nvidia Options icon) configure it and when recording
It will save you is /etc/X11/xorg.conf but it won't because you don't have permission.
To save the new configuration, copy the new configuration content from /etc/X11/xorg.conf, which can be
view in the Nvidia Options application and save it in the above file (manually, control c + control v), but before you have
to open / etc / X11 / with administrative permissions ....

and you already have the external screen configured as main ...

I also had problems with 2 systems with Nvidia grivers... the same kind of problems you had.

but it installed correctly on a system with an intel driver.

I never tried again to install the other two... Maybe later ;-)
