Installing LMDE3 from Cinnamon

Post by Shadowstreik » Mon Oct 15, 2018 6:06 pm

Hello, all.

I would like to install LMDE3 on my machine. I currently operate on Cinnamon in version 19. How would I install the desktop so I can choose it in the display manager?

Thank you very much.

I think you're mistaking what LMDE3 is. LMDE = Linux Mint Debian Edition; in other words, it's not just a desktop environment, it's a completely different OS (that happens to come with Cinnamon as its desktop environment). Mint 19 is based on Ubuntu, which is a derivative of Debian.
Mint 19.2 Cinnamon

AMD FX-8350 Eight-Core w/16 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce 960 w/2GB RAM (430.40)

If you want it on the same machine you could install a dual boot or install it in a virtual machine, like Virtual Box. But as stated above, it is a separate OS.

I have 18.3 Cinnamon and LMDE3-Cindy installed on my SSD.

Two separate partitions, each is exclusive to itself, but can access a 3rd partition for /home

as mentioned, they are two entirely differently based OS versions.
