Bonjour,
For one year, I didn't have any problems until I did an update.
After update, Linux Mint Debian doesn't boot on the VirtualBox 6.1. Screen is black.
I didn't found any more on the Linux site the load debian-8.7.1-amd64-i386-netinst.iso from which I could to restart the guest. I hope.
I tried to launch the recovery mode without any success. Failed to start Load Kernel module.
In rescue mode journalctl -xb is accessible. Screen is still black. I don't have any time to enter my login and password.
I found the lmde-4-cinnamon-64bit load. I can boot on it. But what the next step is? I have to overwrite the entire contents of the hard drive?
Do you have any idea better idea?
Regards,
Leloup

Bonjour
I formatted everything and reinstalled everything.
It's the only solution I found. Of course, I haven't installed everything yet because it's long but next time before updating I'll think twice.

Re: Linux Mint Debian does not start any more
Did you set up Timeshift? Just as useful in a VM as a regular install. Even if can't boot the main system, can restore by booting a live session from ISO. Alternatively, take a VBox snapshot before updating. If update runs well, delete the snapshot, thereby merging into the main .vdi file.

Bonjour Linux-rox,
Thank you for these tips. I will try but hopefully I won't have to.
