Debian background on splash screen

Post by mihajlopetkovic2003 »

Hi, I have Linux Mint Debbie and it comes default with Cinammon desktop. I got used to working inside MATE desktop environment and was looking online how to install it on LMDE. I found this thread: viewtopic.php?t=274832. So I used these commands to install MATE:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install mate-desktop-environment-core

sudo apt install atril desktop-base engrampa eom ffmpegthumbnailer fonts-droid-fallback galculator gnome-user-guide libaacs0 libcanberra-gtk3-module libgphoto2-l10n libsasl2-modules mate-applets mate-icon-theme-faenza mate-media mate-notification-daemon mate-power-manager mate-screensaver mate-system-monitor mate-user-guide mate-utils menu murrine-themes pluma python-cryptography python-idna python-ipaddress python-openssl va-driver-all
After installing it, i started seeing this images on splash screen during boot.

After a while, I stopped using MATE completely so i purged every package I've installed using:

Code: Select all

sudo apt remove --purge mate-desktop-environment-core
sudo apt remove --purge atril desktop-base engrampa eom ffmpegthumbnailer fonts-droid-fallback galculator gnome-user-guide libaacs0 libcanberra-gtk3-module libgphoto2-l10n libsasl2-modules mate-applets mate-icon-theme-faenza mate-media mate-notification-daemon mate-power-manager mate-screensaver mate-system-monitor mate-user-guide mate-utils menu murrine-themes pluma python-cryptography python-idna python-ipaddress python-openssl va-driver-all

sudo apt autoremove
sudo apt autoclean
After doing that, I still have debian background on splash screen (but not on GRUB), and I still have MATE as a login, although when I log in the MATE, I don't see anything since I removed it, understandably.

How can I remove this Debian background during the boot since it annoys me and how can I remove MATE option for login since MATE doesn't exist anymore?
