LMDE 4 32-bit "No Bootable Device" Error

Post by MrMatrix1729 »

A few days back I thought of shifting over to linux mint, from Windows 7. LMDE 4 was the only version supporting it, so I chose it. I loaded LMDE from Live usb and click on installed (Only linux mint on the full hard disk), it shows error- "No bootable Device -- Insert boot disk and press any key" when I restart. When I restart again from Live USB it works fine.

My experience is that the LMDE installer has trouble with certain machines installing and setting up grub correctly.

What I did was after the install an found the same error was to run the live USB and followed the instructions at:

https://howtoubuntu.org/how-to-repair-r ... tu-live-cd

If you are using EFi to boot, there are some additional mounts needed, which I grabbed from https://wiki.debian.org/GrubEFIReinstall

Your trying to boot PXE (Preboot Execution Environment), notice its asking you to check your 'cable'. Go back into the bios, under Lan turn pxe off and set to boot off the hard drive

from wiki >>

In computing, the Preboot eXecution Environment, PXE (most often pronounced as /ˈpɪksiː/ pixie) specification describes a standardized client–server environment that boots a software assembly, retrieved from a NETWORK, on PXE-enabled clients. On the client side it requires only a PXE-capable network interface controller (NIC), and uses a small set of industry-standard network protocols such as DHCP and TFTP.
