<SOLVED>How to speed up boot in lmde4

Post by Linny »

This is regarding a previous thread I created a while back: viewtopic.php?f=246&t=370051

I got my wife a 500GB ssd for Christmas and got around to installing it about mid-January. That made all the difference in the world. Even W7 goes from powered down to a useable desktop in around 10 seconds or less (haven't actually timed it) not including OS selection and password entry. Feels like a brand new computer. Also maxed out the ram at 8 gigs (originally 3 gigs) a couple of weeks ago. That didn't seem to make much difference, but did notice that in Windows the ram useage with only Chrome and Excel open went from about 2.5 or 2.75 gigs to nearly 3.5. The extra ram may help preserve the life of the ssd.
