[Solved]Firefox without yahoo.

Post by Grayfox »

Is their a way I can install the base firefox which does not have all the mint stuff added?

The software center gives me the current version which is what was preinstalled.

I haven't installed a Firefox apart from what is included in Mint but maybe this could help:

you should be able to just Reset the Firefox:
- - Help - Trouble Shooting Information - Restart with Add-ons Disabled ..
you can also change the Yahoo search to which-ever search engine that you do prefer to use.
IE: a couple of mouse click & your done & dusted.

I presume you mean w/o the hateful Yahoo search engine?

just go to Preferences, Search and the End of Page and find this

Find more search engines

click on that, go to End of Page and find the Super Tiny icons for the other search engines.

pick the one(s) you want, I always make Google my default.

Then go back to the Search Engines in Preferences, and deselect the hateful ones you don't want.

Here's a link that describes how to install a Mozilla build if that's what you really want. It's not as hard as it seems.
