Tor Browser for LMDE

Post by Curtrey » Sun Mar 24, 2019 8:11 am

I have very little understanding of computer use. I have been trying to download and install Tor Browser but none of the many instructions on the internet work. Some get as far as the final instruction which produces reaction of multiple dimensions which require the system to be shut down to stop the multiple reaction.

Would any kind person please tell me how to install Tor Browser. Whether I need it or not is immaterial. I would like to know how to do it. Many instructions advise using PPA but Mint Debian responds that It can't.

Thank you

LMDE3 is based on Debian Stretch, so you should follow Debian tutorial (read Debian 9 "Stretch" section).

This does not work for me for some reason - I extract here - open the folder

Code: Select all

tor-browser_en-US
then click on the Tor Browser Setup and nothing happens

@majpooper
something is changed since i can't do this either. but the solution is
1: rightclick and extract here
2: go inside the extracted folder tor-browser_en-US/Browser/
3: double click on start-tor-browser
4: Tor will start and create an icon in the folder extracted in #1
