Han anybody managed to install a half decent equalizer?

Post by Ottavio » Wed Apr 24, 2019 2:02 pm

I usually VLC to watch movies and listen to audio and it comes with a built-in very good equalizer. However, I also need an equalizer for other applications.

I managed to install and run pulseaudio-equalizer, but it doesn't really seem to do anything. I can bring "qpaeq" up (the GUI interface) but, moving the cursors up and down don't change the sound.

Can anybody suggest an alternative?

Thanks.

Hi Ottavio,

There are at least 3 different "system-wide" Linux equalizers available and all have worked for me. And, a lot of applications have their own equalizers built-in as well.

You might consider removing the user configuration for pulse audio which is safe to do and will be recreated after rebooting your computer or run "pulseaudio -k" after deleting this folder. Note: If you have customized pulse audio, then you would not want to delete this folder or be prepared to redo the customization.

Code: Select all

sudo rm -r ~/.config/pulse/

Code: Select all

pulseaudio -k
