Remmina vs. Vinagre

Post by thefish » Mon Jul 08, 2019 9:45 am

Is there any chance of Remmina being added to the LMDE or Debian repos? I know it is available as a Flatpak but it says it will take up 2.4 GB in that form and I am reluctant to install it that way. Maybe it is the traditionalist in me but I prefer basic tools like this to be installed via the normal repos.

Vinagre is nearly totally useless. Or perhaps I just don’t know how to use it. But I cannot figure out how to get a list of frequently used RDP connections setup with pre-configured connection settings, etc. I connect to a lot of Windows-based servers and need to be able to have a tool that provides something similar to “Remote Desktop Connection” (i.e. mstsc.exe) under Windows. Right now I am using the command line xfreerdp and creating shortcuts with the appropriate command line parameters.

thanks,
The Fish

Remmina already is in the Debian repos, but you'll need to add the backports repo if you haven't already: https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=remmina
Tune up your LM 19.x: ppa:gm10/linuxmint-tools

Can you provide some info about enabling backports? I have the following in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list

Code: Select all

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian stretch stretch-backports main
Yet for some reason when I try to install it I get:

Code: Select all

The value 'stretch-backports' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sources

Lose the stretch from that.
