GPARTED will not open in LMDE 3 Cindy (Cinnamon)

Post by majpooper » Tue Jul 16, 2019 6:37 pm

I don't need to configure partitions and disks often and I can always use Disks so this is not a major issue for me but slightly annoying. But I cannot open Gparted:
from the menu = nothing

from the terminal = nothing

Code: Select all

majpooper@1150z:~$ gksudo gparted
from the terminal = ????????

Code: Select all

majpooper@1150z:~$ gparted-pkexec

Removed /run/systemd/system/tmp.mount.
I removed Gparted, purged, autocleaned and updated then reinstalled - same result.

These start it here:

Code: Select all

sudo gparted

Code: Select all

sudo /usr/sbin/gparted
Perhaps

Code: Select all

which gparted
will lend a clue

Most experts claim that you should not run graphical X apps with sudo but gksudo should be used instead.

roger on that
I used a live lmde3 .iso to make sure the paths were the same as Mint editions so no
problems.

Code: Select all

pkexec gparted
is correct
