Cinnamon breaks after upgrade [looking for optimal solution]

Post by debofsky » Sun Jul 21, 2019 5:14 pm

Hi.
I'm new user of Linux Mint, Debian Edition 3 Cindy.
As always with Ubuntu or Debian based distribution my first thing after installation was upgrade. And Cinnamon got broken completely.
I've found this thread viewtopic.php?t=232151
I have a Radeon GPU but it worked, I just skipped nvidia related things.
So yeah it works now. But for a full satisfaction I want to reinstall whole system, leave all the mess I left by trial and error etc...
I prepared this one-liner and I just want to make sure it's all right:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update;
sudo apt-get upgrade;
sudo apt-get remove --purge cinnamon*;
sudo apt-get autoclean;
sudo apt-get install mint-meta-cinnamon;
sudo dpkg-reconfigure cinnamon;
gsettings reset-recursively org.cinnamon;
reboot
Many thanks in advance!
And I hope it'll help others :)

Reason: "Linux Mint, Debian Edition 3 Cindy" => Thread moved to "LMDE 3", LMDE 3 is not the Main Edition (based on Ubuntu)

Thanks a lot for this "one-liner" which is exactly what I needed to solve the dependency error (sorry I didn't keep it for the record) I encountered: I was too lazy to figure it out by myself! :D
I can therefore confirm everything works fine now here with the latest stable Debian.
