{bad hhd- solved} LMDE 4: System Settings - issues

Post by hairybiker »

Just trying out LMDE 4 64bit, clean install on new partition. Cinnamon version. Nvidia driver installed, Fully updated.

System Settings : Preferences
Everything BUT preferred applications & startup applications doesn't work
Nothing will allow any changes
Clicking on the show/hide reverts to previous setting

I can change the theme etc but not the preferences settings

Hi do you get any output from the terminal command

Code: Select all

sudo find $HOME ! -user $USER

OK appears to be a faulty hdd.
Just after I posted that I booted back to Mint 20 and it froze with read errors on the hdd.
Will retry when I get a new ssd.
