[Solved] Video freezes for about a second if started from Nautilus or Nemo

Post by charleswight »

Hello,

I am almost certain this is a bug, but I am not sure where the bug lives. I am running LMDE4 Cinnamon. When I click on a video file in either Nautilus or Nemo, the video comes up and freezes for about a second before playing normally. The audio starts immediately and does not freeze. The behavior is consistent across Nemo and Nautilus with mpv, celluloid, and totem. If I launch the video with either mpv or celluloid from the command prompt, it will open and play normally. Using totem from the command prompt, I get the exact same initial freezing behavior as observed launching the video from Nautilus and Nemo. Launched from the Thunar file manager, mpv and celluloid play the file normally (did not test with totem).

This is subtle, but easily observed if playing a video with a 1 second fade in.

Any ideas ???

The issue went away ... I guess after a reboot as I have made no changes to the system. STRANGE!
