Scanning on LazerJet M1212nf MFP LMDE 4 [SOLVED]

Post by Nic Deane »

Now that I am using LMDE 4 Simple Scan on my LazerJet M1212nf MFP no longer works. Previously with Linux Mint Ubuntu based versions I would just upgrade to the latest hplip version and the scanning feature would work again. I have tried doing this in LMDE 4 but at the command line this comes up:
warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: libtool (libtool - Library building support services)
warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: libcrypto (libcrypto - OpenSSL cryptographic library)
warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: libnetsnmp-devel (libnetsnmp-devel - SNMP networking library development files)
warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: pyqt4-dbus (PyQt 4 DBus - DBus Support for PyQt4)
warning: This installer cannot install 'pyqt4-dbus' for your distro/OS and/or version.
error: Installation cannot continue without this dependency. Please manually install this dependency and re-run this installer.

In LMDE 4 using Synaptic even I can't seem to manually install libcrypto, libnetsnmp-devel, pyqt4-dbus so I'm a bit stuck.
Can anyone help me on this? I just need to be able to use my scanner again.

Thanks in advance, folk here are always so helpful!

Nic

Re: Scanning on LazerJet M1212nf MFP LMDE 4 [SOLVED]

Post by Nic Deane »

Hi folks,

I feel a bit foolish! I think the problem was that I had two copies of my LaserJet M1212nf MFP printer loaded in my Print Settings with one of them set as Default. I deleted them both and then Added my LaserJet M1212nf MFP again. When asked, I downloaded the plug-in and then retried to Scan with SimpleScan. SUCCESS! So, I think my problem was that SimpleScan was trying to access the non-Default printer - and, of course, failed.

Thanks for all the interest, nevertheless!
