Why do they differ? Mint-Y is not updated without sudo :?

Hardware problems on LMDE? Solution:
sudo apt-get install -t buster-backports linux-image-amd64 firmware-linux firmware-misc-nonfree

To use a version of LMDE after EOL, replace mint's Firefox with debian's one

Before I downloaded any flatpak stuff, I ran sudo apt purge "*flatpak*"
This got rid of some "really big stuff" and saved me from future bloat.

<mod>
Careful with your axe, Eugene, 'sudo apt purge "*flatpak*"' will actually uninstall the Flatpak deployment framework itself. May not be what you want to do. Or do you?

Code: Select all

$ dpkg --list '*flatpak*' | egrep "Name|====|^ii"
||/ Name                     Version          Architektur  Beschreibung
+++-========================-================-============-=================================================================
ii flatpak 1.0.9-0ubuntu0.2 amd64 Application deployment framework for desktop apps
ii gir1.2-flatpak-1.0:amd64 1.0.9-0ubuntu0.2 amd64 Application deployment framework for desktop apps (introspection)
ii libflatpak0:amd64 1.0.9-0ubuntu0.2 amd64 Application deployment framework for desktop apps (library)
This is what would be uninstalled by the commandline above.

Reason: uninstalling the Flatpak framework, is this really the intention?

Could it be that other packages are installed in per-user mode? You can check the last column of the output of "flatpak list".

Mint-Y is not updated without sudo
Mint-Y has elements in the main/root file system (for example usr/share/icons and all the Mint-Y subdirectories).
To modify these elements requires su rights.
dual boot LMDE4 (mostly) + LM19.3 Cinnamon (sometimes)
