(Solved) Wake-Up by Mouse (PS/2)

Post by David Chiang »

The problem is:
my PC can be brought to standby with some mouse klicks (USB) and, whenever I want, I can wake it up again by pressing one of the keys on my keyboard. For practical reasons, that's not enough for me, I would also like to wake the system up with my mouse, either by moving it or with one of the three buttons. However, this doesn't work so far because the mouse is ignored in this state. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a BIOS function for this, hence my question, how can this be configured in the operating system?

Update:
Ok, USB mouse and keyboard works now! Whenever I set my system to standby, I can wake it up now with any mouse button, but not by just moving it. However that's good enough for now. Nevertheless, another question comes into play, how does it work with a PS/2 mouse?

Re: Wake-Up by Mouse USB + PS/2

With a PS/2 keyboard and a USB mouse, pressing a shift key wakes it up from a sleeping state.
Alternatively, moving the mouse (a "modern" LED type) also wakes it up.

But a desktop never goes into a deep sleep mode.

I'm not using a PS/2 keyboard on my system.

Not in my case, as I mentioned earlier, and my mice both work with optical sensors.

 The question now is, where and how to configure a PS/2 mouse, so that it wakes up my system from suspend mode as well?
Waking up after a shutdown was never a problem.

Update:
After several failed attempts and a lot of invested time, waking up via PS/2 now also works in suspend mode. :D
