Accessing Google contacts with Gnome contact manager

Post by 4x6gp »

I have not been able to get either the regular or flatpak version of Gnome contact manager to work with google contacts.
Some people have noted that Google recently changed its API, and that in order for Gnome contact manager to work, evolution-data-server must be updated to at least version 3.42. The current version available in LMDE 5 seems to be 3.38.
Does anyone know how to install 3.42?
Or is there some other way to get Google contacts to appear in the Gnome contact manager?
Interestingly, the Gnome calendar works correctly with Google calendar data.
