Display in system settings is incorrect
I have used LMDE 2 for several years now. However, I just did an install of LMDE 3 over my old version. The display app in the system settings reports a Samsung 7" display which is incorrect. The monitor I use is a 23 inch Samsung. This has not really caused a problem except in two programs VLC and Calibre which the user interface is stretched out of proportion. It looks like the programs expected a 7" tablet and filled the whole screen of my 23" monitor. I was just wondering if there was some way to force the OS to recognize the correct dimensions of the screen.

Re: Display in system settings is incorrect
I really don't like posting a reply to my own post, but now I really need some help on this matter. I fixed Calibre and VLC by using AppImages of older versions and they work OK. It is not ideal because they are not the latest from the repository, but still work fine. However, now I have the same problem when building a open source project that I am trying to help on. It has the same problem as with Calibre and VLC, i do not think it is a software problem. I am pretty sure it is a hardware configuration problem.
Here is my system information:
Here is the output from xrandr:
The top attachment is how the app should not look, it was built on my LMDE 3 desktop.
The bottom attachment is how the app should look, it was built on my Windows 7 laptop.
I have not tried all the programs on my desktop yet, so I do not know if I have the same problem with all the other programs that I don't usually use very often. The other programs I use often do not have this problem.
I would really appreciate some help in solving this problem.
