5 out of my nine USB ports work incorrectly

Post by montfinal »

Hello,

I have the following issue, for which I wasn't able to find a solution so far.
My computer is based on a gigabyte A320-S2H motherboard with 8G RAM

I have 9 USB ports:
4 USB3 on the back panel
2 USB2 on the back panel
2 USB3 on the front panel
1 USB2 on the front panel

Here the symptoms:
- Logitech Unified device works on any of them
- Mass storage works on any or them
- iphone works only on the 4 USB3 ports on the back panel
- external sound card (Presonus) works fine on the 4 USB3 ports on the back panel

If I connect the iphone on any of the front panel USB ports, it starts/stops working in a 2 sec rythm
If I connect the Presonus device on the front panel, it doesn't work at all

Does anybody know why the USB ports behave that different and how I can get he front panel USB and the 2 USB2 ports on the back panel to work properly?

Many thanks in advance for your help
Alex

PS: Here the diagnostic output

dmesg with the iphone on one of the USB3 on the front panel gives

Have you got a PCIe USB card installed?

Can you copy/paste the following command in Terminal and copy/paste the resulting info. When you've done that, highlight the output and press the </> button before pressing Submit.

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxxxz

Here's the output

I found furthermore that the four USB ports that are working with any device are the ones of the CPU. The others are added by the chipset of the mother board.

Many thanks for your help
Alexander

Reason: Fixed the code tags. They're meant to go around the output, not after it.
