LMDE 4 Nvidia drivers [3080] [Solved]

Post by MrFox »

Hello, I can't install/run nvidia drivers (my GPU rtx 3080)
1) I tried

Code: Select all

sudo apt policy nvidia-driver
. The result was:
https://imgur.com/pbdPjfs
2) I used command

Code: Select all

sudo apt install nvidia-driver
I think that drivers installed (It took some time, to download and probably install them) and then reboot system.
3) Now with

Code: Select all

sudo apt policy nvidia-driver
I get https://imgur.com/2LAcepE

It's seems like drivers "successfully" installed, but they don't work or I don't know how to launch them. ( I get that message that "check your display drivers" and if I type

Code: Select all

xrandr
I get very few options (my monitor 2560x1440)

None of the drivers available from the repositories are new enough to handle that card including the backport ones.

Have you tried this one from the NVIDIA site instead?

https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/drivers/results/168546/

The readme contains install instructions

http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/L ... index.html
I’ll tell you a DNS joke but be advised, it could take up to 24 hours for everyone to get it.

Good stuff, I'm also pleasantly surprised the processor you have is working with LMDE4 to be honest. Clearly 4.19.0-13 has backported support for the latest Ryzens :)
