What exactly do you mean by "enabling analog"? What is this analog audio device?

Previous to the 5.3 kernel this was the normal instruction set to follow for your codec: viewtopic.php?p=1951011#p1951011

I can't recall if I ever gave those to someone using LDME I'm afraid, and there are differences between the Debian and Ubuntu-based distros in this regard. For example, the last command might need to be replaced by simply rebooting.

There's also a possibility that the HdmiLpeAudio driver needs to be blacklisted. Some users need to do that for analog output to work, while others don't. We can deal with that if necessary.

SMG,

Analog audio is the normal built-in audio. Headphones or internal speakers or external speakers connected via 3.5mm jack.

I thought I've seen posts where people were able to hear audio if the they plugged in their headsets, but otherwise did not. (Then again, maybe they were plugging in to HDMI?) That's why I was not sure if the issue in this thread was needing help for analog audio in general or for a specific hardware device which was not being detected.

Gotcha.

That HDMILpeAudio thing is a special case that required the fix I linked to (in the OP's case I specifically linked to a rt5651 thread due to info I saw in their outputs) but was "fixed" when the 5.3 kernel came out. As the OP is using a 4.19 kernel, I think it's a safe bet they need the same fix. Again, being Debian-based here could throw a wrench in the works, but I'm hopeful the fix will work.

Hey thanks for the reply, so do you suggest to wait for 5.3 kernel, install it and to see (better to "listen" ) if the analog audio back to work?

I don't like the "blacklist" way, I prefer to have both audio profiles working (analog and hdmi) with the auto-switch capability as we're in 2021

Did you try the steps I linked to? They didn't include the blacklist so I would give that a shot first.

EDIT: Maybe we should look at this output as well:

Code: Select all

dmesg | grep -C1 -E 'ALSA|HDA|sof|HDMI|snd[_-]|sound|hda.codec|hda.intel'
Locked

Return to “Hardware Support”
