What's the modern way of turning off nVidia discreet card?

Post by LazyLoneLion »

Hello.

What is the right modern way of temporary turning off the discreet nVidia card in LMDE5?

In my hybrid laptop it seems the discreet card is always on, and I mostly don't need it at all (working in the office suite). It drains power, heats up the power brick, and so on.

If there happens to be a way of temporarily turning it off without replacing all the drivers and kernels and packages but possibly with reboot -- it would be great. So that I could work on embedded graphics while in office suite and have my nVidia when playing games or using video hardware acceleration extensively.

Sadly, there is no option of disabling it in BIOS.
