LMDE4 and actual Intel AX200 HMW, WiFi6, BT5.1 card

Post by Elli_Mc_Lauren »

Hello,

Its looks like I have a driver issue with my new Intel AX200 WiFi card, which worked fine with my Intel 7260 WiFi card before.
If I change back for testing to my old Intel 7260 WiFi card, WiFi working fine again.

I have follow system:
- Dell Notebook with LMDE4, 64 bit, 8 GB RAM
- Kernel version 4.19.0-9-amd64 x86_64
- 10/1000 Intel Ethernet card
- its looks like dkms support are installed by application management (i am not sure its related)
- its looks like Firmware-iwlwifi Binary for intel wireles cards) are installed by application management (i am not sure its related)

What i have found is the follow. It can be its releatet for this:
It can be one of the first Linux drivers for AX200 card:
- https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... rking.html

It can be one of the newest Linux driver for AX200 card:
- https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke ... rmware.git

I dont know:
- what are possible requirements for installation
- how to install
- how to check its working fine

What I tryed ist the follow:
- find and download a suitable iwlwifi driver
- extract the driver iwlwifi-cc-46.3cfab8da.0.tgz
- copy the driver iwlwifi-cc-a0-46.ucode by sudo started nemo to /lib/firmware

Tryed to installall on follow way:
open Terminal
cd /lib/firmware
sudo modprobe -r iwlwifi
and reinsert it by
sudo modprobe iwlwifi

What was i doing wrong ?
- it can be i have not the right requirements for installation
- it can be I used e wrong driver or from wrong source
- it can be i tryed to install on wrong or incomplete way
- ...

Do i need only:
- a newer installed version of "Firmware-iwlwifi Binary for intel wireles cards) which are installed by application management like the follow https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke ... rmware.git ?
- if its true, how to install a newer one than this one which is offered by LMDE4 standard installation?
_ its possible to add https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke ... rmware.git as paket source and after thann, install the available newer iwflwifi paket ?

A newer on iwlwifi, than installalled by LMDE4, is the firmware-iwlwifi_20190717-2_all.deb . Thats one:
* supports new Intel AX201, a no Intel AX200 and its available on: https://debian.pkgs.org/sid/debian-nonf ... l.deb.html

A more actual iwlwifi is available on:
* https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/ke ... rmware.git

And is waiting for, be build and available as p.e. firmware-iwlwifi_20200424 .deb on
* https://debian.pkgs.org/ as sid or like this

The Intel AX200 driver is already availlable as .rpm on:
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/opensuse/t ... oarch.html
